Wellbeing at the heart of workspace design

Published on November 9, 2021

The essence of today’s workspace goes far beyond a functional building. Prioritising the wellbeing of the people at the workspace has numerous benefits. Providing a healthy and enjoyable work environment boosts productivity and creativity, impacts overall job satisfaction, which of course leads to higher retention rate and strong company culture.

Creating a space with this in mind is essential and here are few architectural and design features that can maximize employee’s wellbeing in the office.

Comfort

On average we spend 40 hours per week sitting on our desks and having comfortable space is essential, not only for good posture and health, but for productivity and efficiency at work. Whether you are working from the open coworking space or your team has settled in one of our private office suites, you will enjoy a top class ergonomic chair and a spacious desk for maximum comfort. In addition, every floor offers several soft seating breakout areas, as well as the top floor community area, providing numerous options to change the office setting.

Neuroarchitecture

Neuroarchitecture explores how the mind responds to shapes, colours, light & design in our surrounding. Applying its principles in workspace design can have a positive impact on our mood, can boost productivity and overall wellbeing.

For example, yellow can encourage positive thoughts and creativity. You will find yellow as a key accent in Entract 127 kitchen areas and meeting rooms.

On the other hand, green, commonly found in relax areas, brings a sense of calmness. Mixing colours, sizes and shapes can eliminate a sense of dullness and livens up the workspace ambiance.

Flooring as well matters as it gives a sense of grounding. Choosing carpeting for example provides a softer feel and comfort.

Biophilic design

Numerous studies have suggested that being close to natural elements has a therapeutic effect. Incorporating them into the workspace can not only be aesthetically pleasing, but positively affecting workers’ health, productivity and energy, while reducing stress and anxiety. With the dedication, care and love from our plant-fairy Ivelina, Entract 127 is a home of lush greenery of all types and sizes.

Natural elements, such as wood and stone are at the heart of our business space design, bringing a feeling of nature indoors.

Natural Daylight

As we spend most of our time indoor, bringing natural daylight inside is essential. And when it comes to daylight in the workspace, the brighter is always the better. Exposure to natural light has a direct effect on person’s health, with studies showing significant drop in health related issues such as headache, eyestrain, blurred vision, insomnia, fatigue. Furthermore, sunlight has a tremendous effect on our mood and energy levels, making us happier and more productive at work. Keeping in mind how important direct sunlight is to our working environment, all office suites in Entract 127 have plenty of natural light and openable windows. Each floor has a balcony, while the top terrace offers a real vitamin D overdose. Not to mention the stunning view to Sofia’s so loved theatrical street!

Hydration

Water consumption improved sleep quality and boosts energy level, along with improving our focus and awareness. Therefore, increasing our water intake impacts our productivity and wellbeing at work. At Entract 127 you will find high quality water stations, providing free double filtered drinking water. Choose your preferred temperature, still or sparkling, while eliminating the use of any plastic bottles.

Wellness

Adding physical activity to our daily routine is important for our overall health and wellbeing. Regular exercise increases our blood flow to the brain, boosts our energy levels and concentration. During the week, the top floor terrace lounge turns into a yoga space, offering free morning flow classes for our members. Finish up the class with a high-quality herbal tea and the day is destined to success.
